All About Charlotte (AWOL’s Customer Service Advisor)
Q: What is your official job title? A: Customer Service Advisor based at Kirkham HQ.
Q: How long have you worked for AWOL? A: I worked on a freelance basis at the end of last year for a few weeks to help with the demand of tickets at the time. This suited my circumstances at the time and was such a refreshing change to what I was used to. I then got asked to come back on more of a permanent basis last month. So I’m fairly new at the moment, however it’s great to be learning about all the amazing things AWOL have to offer.
Q: What did you do pre-AWOL? A: I previously worked as a coordinator for a charity organisation and have also worked in retail as a customer sales assistant.
Q: Describe a typical day at AWOL. A: First of all, it’s customer service. I come in and check if any customer tickets need responding to and once these are done, I do any jobs other team members wish me to assist with, such as preparing for the upcoming events, or researching hotels for photographers to stay in when they are working at the event.
Q: What do you love about your job? A: I like that it’s different every time I come in; I really enjoy answering and resolving customer queries. I enjoy learning about all the things that go on behind the scenes in preparation for the events and I love seeing the photos after the event too.
Q: What’s the best thing about working at AWOL? A: Great teamwork!!! After only being here a short while, it really stands out to me how everyone pulls together as a great team to prepare for the many events that AWOL does. I thoroughly enjoyed working at AWOL last year and was pleased to be asked back, The team made me feel so welcome and it's such a fun work atmosphere to work in. It's completely different to my previous role, I am now part time and it's a refreshing change to be in a more relaxed role and at a different pace. It's a new challenge for myself but great to be learning new skills. I was quite taken back at how such a small company in Kirkham can have the massive presence that it has within its industry.
Q: When you’re not working what are you doing? A: Going on family walks and picnics, which normally consists of the kids asking when it’s time to eat dinner the whole way round. I also enjoy the occasional child-free thrill-seeking day at theme parks as I love rollercoasters.
Q: Favourite quote? A: Billy Connelly says, “Life is a waste of time, time is a waste of life, so get wasted all the time, and you’ll have the time of your life”.
Q: If you could go back in time to when you were a teenager, what is the best bit of advice you could give yourself? A: Always focus on yourself, you’re in charge of your own growth and happiness. Don’t be afraid to say no.
Q: What’s your go-to karaoke song? A: Nobody wants to hear me sing, however after a few drinks I think I sound amazing so would probably belt out a Pink song badly!
Q: Tell us something we don’t know about you. A: I can read music and used to play the cornet, being a band geek in a brass band. I taught myself to sign the alphabet.
